CHOLESTEROL CHAT

Updated: Aug 13

One

The well-being of our bodies depends on the essentiality of cholesterol.

Our liver naturally generates this type of fat, which is also found in certain foods.

While cholesterol often gets an evil reputation, it actually plays several vital roles in our bodies.

Cholesterol helps build and maintain cell membranes in good shape. Making sure our cells are structurally sound is important for them to function properly.

Cholesterol is important for producing hormones such as cortisol, estrogen, and testosterone. These hormones are crucial for keeping your body in check - they control things like metabolism, reproductive health, and stress.

Cholesterol contributes to the production of vitamin D, which is vital for maintaining healthy bones and a resilient immune system.

It helps your body digest fats by making bile acids in the liver.

It’s important to remember that there are two types of cholesterol: HDL and LDL. HDL is the “good” cholesterol because it helps remove excess cholesterol from the blood, while LDL is the “bad” cholesterol because it can be part of the “situation” that forms plaque in the arteries, causing heart disease.

ALSO, important

to keep your HDL and LDL cholesterol balanced for good health. Having high LDL and low HDL can put you at greater risk of diseases. Stuff like eating junk, not moving, smoking, and your genes can mess with your cholesterol.

Engaging in regular physical activity, managing a healthy weight, and refraining from smoking are crucial for managing cholesterol levels.

To sum up, even though cholesterol gets a lot of hate, it’s actually crucial for our overall health.

To keep our cholesterol levels in check and have OPTIMAL HEALTH, we need to understand how cholesterol works in our bodies and live a healthy lifestyle.
